Un'antica tradizione siriana racconta di come gli uomini, morendo, salgano al cielo diventando stelle. L’artista immagina le vittime, i morti del popolo Siriano a causa del conflitto in corso dal 2011 in poi, impegnate in questo enorme esodo verso la notte.
Zatti le rappresenta una ad una e dando loro un luogo dove stare. Utilizzando un taglierino molto appuntito, ha cominciato a forare un cartoncino nero, penetrando i polpastrelli delle dita della mano sinistra utilizzati come ditale. Ogni dito sopporta diecimila fori alla volta. Ciascun cartoncino contiene 100.000 fori, e viene retroilluminato da un pannello luminoso.
Il taglierino ha una punta triangolare, e la pressione esercitata sulle dita varia a seconda del dolore causato dalla penetrazione, di conseguenza ogni foro è diverso dall'altro. Inoltre, il diverso orientamento della foratura sul pannello crea una variazione di luminosità, che cambia considerevolmente a secondo dell'angolo di osservazione.
Le vittime a causa del conflitto Siriano dal 2011 all’inizio del 2019 sono stimate* 560.000. Al 2020, i pannelli realizzati sono 5, un sesto è in corso d'opera.

An ancient Syrian tradition tells that men, dying, ascend to heaven becoming stars. The artist imagines the victims, the dead of the Syrian people due to the ongoing conflict from 2011 onwards, engaged in this huge exodus into the night.
Zatti represents them one by one and giving them a place to stay. Using a sharp knife, he began to puncture a black card, penetrating the fingertips of his left hand as a thimble. Each finger can tolerate ten thousand holes at a time. Each card contains 100.000 holes, and is backlit by a luminous panel.
The cutter has a triangular tip, and the pressure exerted on the fingers varies according to the pain caused by the penetration, so each hole is different from the other. Furthermore, the different orientation of the perforation on the panel creates a variation in brightness, which changes considerably according to the angle of observation.
The victims due to the Syrian conflict from 2011 to the beginning of 2019 are estimated* at 560.000. By 2020, 5 panels have been made, a sixth is in progress.
